Velvet pumpkins are a very rare and lovely-looking pumpkin. I mean they’re cute, but they’re not that rare. I have seen at least three other pumpkins like them. They are most likely to be found in the South, but they can also be found in the Midwest and Northeast.

Velvet pumpkins are much harder than straw pumpkins, and the sculpting and the baking and the sculpting of the wax is the hardest part of making one. We usually spend a good 8-10 hours on these pumpkins, and they take about a week to bake.
