The idea behind this beer review is to explore the various flavors and styles of beer and the many different cultures that have brewed them. What started as an effort to bring a review of our favorite brews to Austin, has grown into a much more wide-ranging beer review with a focus on Texas politics and beer. As a Texas State political activist, I get a lot of questions about beer, which is why I’m proud to be an ambassador for this beer review.
I’ve been to more than a few parties at Texas State, and to keep my beer reviews as wide-ranging as possible, I decided to start a beer review blog. It will be a place for me to list the different beers I review, as well as explore my thoughts on the various flavors and styles of beer that I personally enjoy. I hope you enjoy the review.
For the last decade, Ive been a beer lover. I always had a few beers that were on my “to try” list, but as a college student I had to have that good old “can I get a beer?” game down. Even when I moved to Austin and was given a few beers by the University of Texas, I was still a little hesitant. But after a few beers I was sold on the craft beer culture in Austin.
At first, I was skeptical about the idea of a beer geeks club, but after spending too many hours at the Texas Beer Geeks at the University of Texas and their events, I figured its time to give myself a shot. Of course I didnt realize that this would take up too much of my time and money, but I am so thankful for the experience and the friendships I made.
The Texas Beer Geeks are made up of the University of Texas, the University of Texas A&M, the Austin City College, and the University of North Texas. As a geeks group, they host several events every semester that include games, movies, lectures, and more. They also hold a “Beer Geeks” festival every July in the Uptown area.
A lot of people who are in my age bracket would probably consider me a beer geek, but I can’t really say I drink a lot of beer. I’d probably call myself a beer aficionado, but I don’t exactly call myself an ale geek. I guess I just like to try a lot of different beers and compare them.
As a college student, I started hanging out with a bunch of college student groups. One group is a little more relaxed, and they don’t want me to know exactly what they’re doing. They are more interested in reading about the campus and how it got there. The second group consists of some more college students from the general class of college. They are more interested in getting more students to know the campus and figuring out what they’re doing.
I have to say that I’ve been impressed with a few of the beers that they have. I have to say, though, that I have found the one that I really liked and I am probably going to buy it now. I have a feeling that I am going to like a lot of the other beers that they have.
