I have been a long-time advocate of “stoffer home”. This homeschooling philosophy is what we call the philosophy of “stoffer home” because you teach your kids to be self-aware and to be fully responsible for their actions. In other words, you teach them to be comfortable with making decisions about their own lives. Stoffer homeschooling is designed to help you become aware of your own self-centeredness because you are.
The term “stoffer home” actually stems from a Greek word meaning “self-observant.” While the concept sounds a bit self-indulgent, the philosophy is actually one of the most important aspects of our homeschooling philosophy. You are literally teaching your children to be conscious of their actions. You are also teaching them to be responsible for their own actions. In this way, we are also teaching them to be responsible for their actions.

This is all great stuff. But I have a question for you.
How do you create a balance in a home? You have to make sure that the parents feel comfortable, that the kids feel comfortable, and that the home feels comfortable.
Well, stoffer is a great example. Their home is made of solid wood, and they’ve been putting in little repairs and changes to it over the years. They are comfortable with the work they did, but they need to feel comfortable with the changes that have been made. The work is not bad work, but they want the house to feel like it will last.
You have to be able to create a balance in a home, but it is not like you need a balance in your life. If you are unhappy with the way you look in a certain area, be honest about it. Talk to your parents, talk to the kids, talk to the neighbors. But do not make the home feel like it is a place that will never change. If you are comfortable with the way things are, then the balance can definitely be created.
I have no problem with people making their home feel like a place that will last, and I’m with stoffer on that because I’m sure they’re aware of how much work it can entail. But I would also like to add that if you are going to do the work, you have to be able to enjoy the process. You have to be able to make the home comfortable to live in.
There are so many ways to make a home comfortable. From the size and layout, to the color scheme, to the furnishings, to the lighting. But there are so many variables that make a home comfortable that it is impossible to make a home that will last.
